AUSTRALIAN LAW REGARDING REPLICA FIREARMS
Global Gear has contacted Police and Justice departments all across Australia, to verify the legality of these replicas in each state and territory. As of the date of posting for this information (Feb ’08), we believe that the replicas we sell are classified as follows;
NSW – Prohibited Weapon: Unable to be owned without Prohibited Weapons/Firearms Permit, which is why we do not ship these to any address in NSW.
VIC – Controlled Weapon: Legal to own without Permit, as long as you are over 18, however not legal to carry in public without “Lawful Excuse”. Similar in many respects to owning a knife.
WA - Controlled Weapon: Legal to own without Permit, as long as you are over 18, however not legal to carry in public without “Lawful Excuse”. Similar in many respects to owning a knife.
SA – No Classification

L1A1 Rifle or SLR (FN FAL)
The SLR was the service rifle of the armies of Australia from the early 1960’s til the early 1990’s. Other armies who used the SLR were Great Britain, New Zealand, India, Canada, etc. etc . They were used by Australian and New Zealand soldiers in the Vietnam War and by British soldiers in Malayan Conflict and the Falklands War; as well as other numerous ‘little’ Wars. It has an enviable reputation for ruggedness and reliability.

M1 Garands were the service rifle used by US Army and US Marines in WW2, and Korea and were used in a host of ‘minor’ wars such as the ‘Bay of Pigs’ invasion. Other armies used the M1 Garand such as the French Foreign Legion and the Viet Minh in Indochina (now called Vietnam) in the 1950’s .
