The FN FAL Rifle (known in the Australian Army as the L1A1 Rifle or SLR) features in such movies as The Odd Angry Shot (Starring Graham Kennedy and John Jarrett); etc.
The SLR was the service rifle of the armies of Australia from the early 1960’s til the early 1990’s. Other armies who used the SLR were Great Britain, New Zealand, India, Canada, etc. etc . They were used by Australian and New Zealand soldiers in the Vietnam War and by British soldiers in Malayan Conflict and the Falklands War; as well as other numerous ‘little’ Wars. It has an enviable reputation for ruggedness and reliability.
Our replica L1A1 is molded from a very early SLR manufactured in 1960 by the Small Arms Factory, Lithgow, Australia. It shows the detail of the SLR’s in use by Australian soldiers during the Vietnam War. It is molded in the ‘Action Condition’ with the rear sight vertical ready for use. As you hold the replica against your shoulder and aim it, you will be viewing the same sight picture as Australian soldiers did in Vietnam.
It is made of robust, tough plastic with a steel insert for rigidness. If you intend to paint it, the plastic will accept paint.
Our replica has the same weight and balance as the real SLR
