This replica M1 Garand is manufactured by the Melbourne based company who supplied these as props for the upcoming Spielberg/Hanks mini series ‘Pacific’. The company makes this replica Garand from the same mold used to make prop M1 Garands for the miniseries. Filming for ‘Pacific’ commences in July 2007.
M1 Garands were the service rifle used by US Army and US Marines in WW2, and Korea and were used in a host of ‘minor’ wars such as the ‘Bay of Pigs’ invasion. Other armies used the M1 Garand such as the French Foreign Legion and the Viet Minh in Indochina (now called Vietnam) in the 1950’s .
M1 Garands feature in untold number of War Movies such as: Saving Private Ryan, Thin Red Line, The Longest Day, Kelly’s Heroes, Battle of the Bulge, Band of Brothers,
Etc. Etc.
Our replica M1 Garand is made of robust, tough plastic with a steel insert for rigidness. On special order it can be supplied in brown. If you intend to paint it, the plastic will accept paint.
