Thousands of years ago our solar system was most populated in the galaxy, with various intelligent life forms thriving on every planet. As these life forms became more advanced, contact between the different planet’s populations became common. Over the centuries, bickering and rivalry between the races degenerated into all-out war between the worlds. As the wars continued, it looked like our solar system would tear itself apart. The only race not involved in these wars was that known as The Forge Masters, who lived on the third planet from the Sun; Earth. Their technology far surpassed that of the other races, being thousands of years more advanced. They had always used this to their advantage, shielding themselves from the other planets and refusing to become entangled in their squabbling. The Forge Masters watched, as the wars between the other races slowly reduced their planets to dust. It was not until the Sun itself was threatened, that The Forge Masters intervened. Without the Sun, no life could exist in the solar system, so the Forge Masters had no choice but to put an end to these wars. The Forge Masters explained to the rulers of each race that the planetary wars must stop, and that the damage being done to the solar system would soon wipe them all out. Sadly, warfare had become a way of existence for these races and none of them were willing to back down, for fear of showing weakness and being invaded by the others. So, as a last resort, the Forge Masters suggested a compromise. Each planet was to select their mightiest warriors, who would be given the title of “Sentinel”. Instead of disputes being settled by entire planets going to war with each other, they would send their Sentinels to Earth. There the Sentinels would fight in gladiatorial combat, called “Resolution”, and the winner would determine the outcome of the dispute. To make certain that Resolution was fair, each warrior would come to Earth un-armed. Once there, the Forge Masters would use their DNA bonding technology to create each warrior a Sentinel Weapon, unique to the warrior’s DNA. Each Sentinel Weapon bestowed special power upon the Sentinel, turning them from mighty warrior to living weapon. Such was the power of the Sentinels that Resolution could last for days, with each Sentinel’s fighting skills being tested to their absolute limits. Resolution would only end when one of the Sentinels could no longer continue, either due to grievous injury or death. Any Sentinel that survived Resolution would then be allowed to return to their home planet, and retained their Sentinel Weapon as a trophy of Resolution. Resolution was accepted by all planets, and the process continued for hundreds of years. Many awesome Sentinels were born, with stories of incredible battles becoming legends throughout the solar system.
