The handle and guards have an antique finish, the blade is a 1060 high carbon hand forged piece of steel that has been hot oil treated to give a black look without chipping and offering some rust prevention. Awesome! I just received my sword today it arrived really quickly and was in excellent condition. It really feels battle ready and although it had a few chips in the blade I just think it made it more legitimate.
