The blade is repeatedly heat treated and hand forged to remove impurities, which gives it strength and flexibility. The blade is full tang with a hand engraved mei (signature). It is fully functional and battle-ready. Clay is applied to the cutting edge of the blade before tempering to differentially harden the blade and create the genuine hamon line, and an additional hamon is etched on the blade to give it a distinctly unique look. The sword also comes with silk sageo/ito, genuine same' (rayskin), and is durable enough to cut tameshigiri, bamboo, bone, iron wire, and more.
